Twenty-three dogs are currently receiving treatment at Charleston Animal Society (CAS) after a seizure on July 11 in Awendaw by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. The case remains under investigation.
"Our first priority is to have these dogs examined by our medical team to see what condition each animal is in and then proceed to treatment," said Charleston Animal Society Chief Veterinary Officer Lucy Fuller.
The dogs include one Walker Coonhound and 22 Beagles.
"One of the dog's back legs appeared to be paralyzed and the dog was seen dragging their legs through the mud," said Charleston Animal Society Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Aldwin Roman. "When animals find themselves in this kind of situation, they have nowhere else to turn, but Charleston Animal Society."
