WalletHub recently released its study on 2026's Best & Worst States for Singles and South Carolina ranked as the 6th WORST in the country. This is a slight fall for the Palmetto State, which ranked better last year.
To create the rankings, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 29 key measures of dating-friendliness, including the share of single adults to the unemployment rate for singles to the number of restaurants per capita.
Dating in South Carolina (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

- 42nd – % of Single Adults
- 46th – Gender Balance of Singles
- 22nd – Online-Dating Opportunities
- 41st – Mobile-Dating Opportunities
- 32nd – Median Annual Household Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
- 18th – Restaurants per Capita
- 47th – Movie Theaters per Capita
- 39th – Crime Rate
