Sea Island Habitat for Humanity invites members of the media, community partners, and supporters to celebrate a Home Dedication and Key Ceremony for Ms. Terry, a new homeowner whose journey highlights the power of affordable housing and community partnership.
The home, located on James Island, carries a meaningful story. It was purchased back from a previous Habitat homeowner, ensuring that the property remains part of Sea Island Habitat’s affordable housing inventory. By keeping the home in the Habitat program, the organization continues its mission to preserve long-term affordability and provide safe, stable housing for families in the local community.
Ms. Terry’s new home embodies the spirit of sustainability and stewardship that has guided Habitat’s work for more than four decades. The dedication ceremony will honor her achievement and recognize the volunteers, donors, and community members who made it possible.
About Ms. Terry
Ms. Terry has long dreamed of owning a home where she can create lasting memories with her family. After many years of renting in a place that does not allow overnight guests, she looks forward to having a home of her own—a space to gather, celebrate, and welcome loved ones.
She has worked at MUSC in Environmental Services for 20 years, demonstrating dedication, reliability, and care in her work every day. Family is central to her life; she has five sisters, two brothers, three children, and 16 grandchildren she looks forward to hosting overnight in her new Habitat home.
For Ms. Terry, homeownership through Habitat for Humanity is not just about having a house—it is about creating a warm, welcoming space for her family and building a foundation for future generations.
