Pet Helpers says they are proud to once again participate in Empty the Shelters, a national adoption campaign sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation, taking place May 1 through May 15, 2025. With hundreds of shelters and rescues across the country joining the movement, this lifesaving event aims to place thousands of shelter pets into loving homes — and Pet Helpers is offering reduced adoption fees on all animals to make that happen.
During the event, adoption fees will be $50 for all adult cats and dogs (6 months and older) and $150 for kittens and puppies (under 6 months). Every adoption includes spay/neuter, microchipping, and age appropriate vaccinations.
“We are incredibly grateful to the BISSELL Pet Foundation for shining a spotlight on the ongoing need for shelter animals to find loving homes,” said Melissa Susko, Executive Director of Pet Helpers. “These sponsored adoptions come at a critical time. Our shelter remains at capacity, especially with dogs, and these reduced-fee adoptions help us free up kennel space to continue saving lives.”
Pet Helpers continues to operate at a high intake volume, particularly for large-breed and adult dogs. By participating in Empty the Shelters, the organization hopes to not only find forever homes for current residents but also make room for the many animals still in need of rescue.
“Empty the Shelters” is the nation’s largest funded adoption event, and each participating shelter receives a financial grant from BISSELL Pet Foundation to support the reduced adoption fees — allowing shelters like Pet Helpers to continue their work while giving adopters an extra incentive to adopt now.
Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter during normal operating hours or view available animals online at www.pethelpers.org. All adoptions will require an application and counseling to ensure the best match for both pet and adopter.
