Tidewater, Charleston’s newest private social club, is poised to become one of the city’s most sought-after social destinations. Opening in mid-June, Tidewater will bring a fresh model of social, active and elevated living to downtown Charleston. Located at 2201 Mechanic St., the members-only club is designed as a modern “third space” where dining, work, wellness, sports and community come together under one roof.
The project features interior design by MB Within Interior Design Studio, led by Mollie Bean, and construction by FHM Construction, led by Frank Moses. Together, the Charleston-based design and construction team is transforming Tidewater into a sophisticated, highly functional destination for the city’s next generation of visionaries, entrepreneurs, creatives and social leaders.
Tidewater is expected to feature a cocktail bar, private restaurant, indoor golf simulators, pickleball courts, supper club programming, monthly events, networking opportunities, wellness amenities and a built-in social calendar for members and their guests. The club is positioned as an alternative to the traditional country club model — less formal, more energetic and tailored to the way Charleston’s rising professionals live, work, gather and connect today.
“Tidewater is exactly the kind of project that reflects where Charleston is going,” said Mollie Bean, principal of MB Within Interior Design Studio. “It is refined without being stiff, social without being predictable, and designed for people who want beauty, energy, connection and ease in one place. Our vision was to create an environment that feels elevated, layered and welcoming — a place that can accommodate a morning coffee meeting, a post-work cocktail, a private dinner or a full day of movement and connection.”
For MB Within, Tidewater continues the studio’s growing portfolio of luxury commercial, hospitality, multifamily, restaurant and lifestyle-driven residential interiors. Known for designing richly layered spaces that blend architecture, atmosphere and experience, MB Within approached the club with a focus on both beauty and usability. Every design decision supports Tidewater’s core identity: a destination where members can move seamlessly from work to play, from wellness to entertaining, and from quiet connection to lively social programming.
FHM Construction brings the technical execution and construction expertise required to deliver a multiuse hospitality environment with precision. With experience across commercial buildings, restaurant projects, renovations, historic renovations and custom construction throughout the Charleston area, FHM is helping bring the club’s layered design vision to life.
As Charleston continues to grow as a hub for luxury living, hospitality, entrepreneurship and design, Tidewater is positioned to become a defining private club for the city’s next chapter. The concept reflects a shift in how people want to gather: not only around tradition, but around energy, access, connection and shared experiences.
“Tidewater will quickly become the place whispered about in Charleston’s top social circles — the club to know, the room to enter and the place to be seen,” Bean added.
