If Jay from The Great Gatsby had traded his Long Island mansion for a Lowcountry estate, his iconic parties would have called for a pool like the one just completed by Blue Haven Pools & Spas. Over four meticulous months, this pool transformed from a vision into a masterpiece, boasting a scale and complexity that sets it apart. With four distinct pool sections, holding a combined 93,000 gallons—an astounding contrast to the average 14,000-gallon pool—this project isn’t just large. It’s legendary.
From the start, the client’s directive was clear: embrace complete creative freedom and design something truly one-of-a-kind. But beyond being visually striking, this pool was meant to be lived in—enjoyed, used, and experienced. With that vision in mind, the Blue Haven team got to work. Over four months, they crafted a pool that seamlessly blended artistry, engineering and sheer appeal. The design featured tiered pools—an ambitious concept that Blue Haven had never attempted before. Instead of seeing this as a challenge, the team viewed it as an opportunity to excel.
At its completion, three individual pools spill seamlessly over their own infinity edges, setting the tone for a resort-style retreat right at home. These dramatic overflows lead into rich detail, including nine sheer descent waterfalls, 25 color-changing lights, and four lighted bubblers—all easily controlled via Bluetooth and an integrated smartphone app. The beach-entry pool invites leisurely wading and a true resort feel, while a circular wading pool—perfect for parties—is linked by a bridge that’s as much a showpiece as it is functional. On the upper deck, a seven-foot-deep leisure pool practically calls for a cannonball, overlooking the main pool as it gradually extends to an impressive eight feet.
Yet it’s not just the scale or even the show-stopping design that makes this pool special—it’s the engineering excellence behind it. Beneath the surface, 11 pumps, a three-mile long network of plumbing and one mile of electrical work keep the pool flowing. An aquatics engineer ensured every feature—from the 60 feet of vanishing edge (nearly triple the standard) to the dual-purpose catch basin that doubles as a wading pool for the owners’ dogs—was perfectly executed.
This pool doesn’t just blur the line between art and engineering—it completely redefines it. From the intention poured into every detail to the craftsmanship beneath the surface, it’s a testament to what happens when a client says, "Wow me.”
