Local nonprofit Going Places will surprise all 423 students at North Charleston Elementary School on Dec. 17, 2025, with a new, custom bike, lock, helmet, and pump.
Ahead of the big reveal, the organization will host “Building Joy: Wonderland Extravaganza,” a community bike-build event presented by MassMutual South Carolina, on Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at Building 64, 2301 Noisette Blvd., in North Charleston.
This year’s bike build is open to the public and will feature a festive holiday atmosphere complete with:
- A holiday party immediately following the build with an open bar
- Vendors and Christmas décor
- Awards for the best holiday outfits (ugly sweaters, onesies, and more encouraged)
- Corporate team-building tables and sponsorship opportunities
- Individual volunteer options
- A live DJ, raffles, and photos with Santa
- Complimentary lunch, hot cocoa, and coffee
Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities include:
- Table Sponsor ($2,500): Funds a full team-building table for six, with premium business recognition and sponsorship for the bike reveal event.
- Station Sponsor ($250): Supports one of 22 themed experience zones with branded signage and recognition.
- Individual Volunteer Pass ($5): Supports the event while helping fund Going Places’ mission to spread joy.
Going Places is also seeking volunteers for the bike reveal at North Charleston Elementary. Interested participants can learn more about volunteering, sponsorships, and event details at goingplacesnonprofit.org.
The organization is also accepting raffle donations, vendor applications, and additional sponsorships. For details, contact Katie@GoingPlacesNonprofit.org.
Those unable to attend can still support the cause by donating online at goingplacesnonprofit.charityproud.org/Donate or by contributing to the “Giving Trees” campaign. Each $150 donation sponsors a child’s bike, lock, helmet, and pump.
