SUMMERVILLE - Dorchester Habitat for Humanity will celebrate the groundbreaking of its 80th home on Tuesday, November 4th at 10 a.m. at 463 Renau Boulevard in Summerville.
This milestone marks continued progress in the organization’s Building Dreams on Dean Drive initiative. Despite initial delays due to a sewer line reconfiguration, the project is now ready to move forward thanks to the dedicated support of Dorchester County, RH Moore Company, and National Trench Safety.
“These partnerships made it possible to overcome major site development challenges and keep our mission on track,” said Jaye Jones Elliott, Executive Director of Dorchester Habitat for Humanity.
Two Habitat homes will be built simultaneously. The groundbreaking will feature remarks from Dorchester County Councilman David Chinnis, representatives from RH Moore, and Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. The public is invited to attend and celebrate this exciting milestone.
“Together, we’re building homes, hope, and community,” said Jones Elliott, “and thanks to a generous $1-for-$1 match from Dr. Robert and Mrs. Sammye Blackard, every donation will go twice as far in helping families achieve affordable homeownership.”
