The City of Charleston will host its annual First Day Festival on Sunday, August 10, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charleston Gaillard Center and Liberty Square. This free, family-friendly, back-to-school event will feature community resources, activities, and free admission to the South Carolina Aquarium during festival hours.
In the lead-up to the festival, the City is calling on residents, businesses, and community groups to participate in the First Day Festival School Supply Drive—an opportunity to come together and support Charleston’s students, one backpack at a time.
You can donate school supplies at any of the following drop-off locations:
- Arthur Christopher Community Center, 265 President St
- Daniel Island Recreation Center, 160 Fairbanks Dr
- James Island Recreation Center, 1088 Quail Dr
- Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Blvd
- Charleston Tennis Center, 19 Farmfield Ave
- Maybank Tennis Center, 1880 Houghton Dr
- City Recreation Department, 823 Meeting St
- NEW! City Office Location – 200 Meeting St
- CCSD Headquarters – 75 Calhoun Street (please label supplies “First Day Festival”)
