U.S. News & World Report recently published its list of the “Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2024-2025” and of course, the Holy City was included. Charleston found itself ranked as the 13th best. Naples, FL topped the list, which also included Greenville, SC (4), Charlotte, NC (5), Raleigh, NC (6), and Asheville, NC (17).
To make the list, U.S. News said a city "had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life." For more information on how they create the list, read the Best Places to Live methodology.
Here’s what the publication had to say about Charleston:
“There is no place quite like Charleston. The region features a unique blend of historic preservation and new development, displayed in its cobblestone walkways and eerie cemeteries, buzzy nightlife and sophisticated art galleries. Its unique brand of Southern style shines in the bespoke boutiques that line downtown's King Street, while Southern hospitality radiates from the award-winning dining establishments.”
