Travel + Leisure today announced the best travel destinations and organizations around the world based on the results of its 2026 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey, and the Holy City once again had an impressive showing.
After finishing third last year, Charleston was named the second-best city in the United States. Santa Fe, New Mexico, claimed the top spot for the second consecutive year, while Savannah, Georgia; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Chicago rounded out the top five. Greenville placed 10th.
In addition to being named the nation’s second-best city, Charleston also earned recognition in the following categories:
- No. 4 Best Island in the Continental United States - Kiawah Island
- No. 5 Best Continental U.S. City Inn - Post House
