The holiday season is all about coming home — and in 2025, Charleston Animal Society and Hendrick Charleston are making it easier than ever for homeless pets to do just that.
The longtime partners are proud to bring back their beloved “Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign, now underway through December 23, with a fresh focus on convenience, compassion, and urgent lifesaving impact. Just come to the Charleston campus shelter, pick out a new dog or cat and volunteer elves from Charleston Animal Society and Hendrick Charleston will deliver the pets to your doorstep on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
Now celebrating its 12th year, the Home for the Holidays partnership has helped thousands of pets find loving homes while creating unforgettable holiday memories for families across the Lowcountry.
“It’s one of the most meaningful traditions we’re part of each year,” said Donald Smith, Community Relations Director at Hendrick Charleston. “Seeing the surprise, the tears, and the instant bond when a pet arrives on Christmas morning never gets old. This program brings joy to families while giving animals the second chance they deserve.”
Charleston Animal Society is currently at capacity, especially with dogs, and the need for adopters has never been greater. To help clear the shelters and give every animal a second chance, the organization is offering free adoptions for dogs and cats (one year and older) at both campuses.
“This isn’t just about the holidays, it’s about lifesaving,” said Joe Elmore, CAWA, CFRE, President and CEO of Charleston Animal Society. “Our kennels are full, and these animals deserve warm homes, not another night in a shelter. 'Home for the Holidays' gives everyone the opportunity to be part of the solution.”
