Bluffton, SC — Reinforcing Ironworkers Local Union No. 846 has officially endorsed Mayra Rivera-Vázquez in her campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, citing her commitment to working families, fair wages, job protection, and responsible economic growth.
“Mayra Rivera-Vázquez is here to fight for all of us,” said Jose J. Mendoza, FS-T and Business Manager of Ironworkers Local 846. “Her campaign is powered by working families, young people, veterans, and everyday South Carolinians who are ready to build a future rooted in justice, dignity, and opportunity.”
Local 846 praised Rivera-Vázquez for recognizing both the economic potential of the Lowcountry and the urgent need for infrastructure investments that create good-paying jobs. Union leaders contrasted her vision with the district’s current representation, which they say has repeatedly opposed progress-driven infrastructure and workforce initiatives.
“Mayra understands what it means to work hard and still struggle,” Mendoza added. “She will fight for fair wages, protect jobs, defend Social Security, and champion the Lowcountry as a welcoming place for responsible global business.”
The union also highlighted Rivera-Vázquez’s support for common-sense immigration reform that respects workers, strengthens families, and provides stability for businesses — while maintaining strong and secure borders.
“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Ironworkers Local 846,” said Mayra Rivera-Vázquez. “Our campaign is about standing with the people who build our communities, power our economy, and keep this country running. In Congress, I will always fight for fair wages, safe jobs, strong infrastructure, and policies that put working families first.”
Ironworkers Local 846 urged voters across South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District to support Rivera-Vázquez on Election Day, calling the race critical to securing a stronger, fairer future for the Lowcountry.
