The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG) continues to seek input on the Lowcountry Rapid Transit (LCRT) project in the final days of the online meeting, which closes on May 26th.
The online meeting has interactive maps and visualizations for visitors to see the locations and designs of stations for the system, proposed improvements along the 21.5 mile-long corridor and what the system will look like for our region.
Visitors to the online meeting have the opportunity to shape South Carolina's first mass transit system by providing their thoughts on station designs, features of the system, route designs and more. The online meeting is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until May 26th.
LCRT is a critical component in the evolution of the region's transportation infrastructure. This proposed system would connect Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville along the US 78/US 52 (Rivers Avenue) corridor.
“We need to hear from the community at this critical juncture so we can make this the best system possible.” said Sharon Hollis, BCDCOG principal planner and LCRT project lead. “This project won't just benefit people that ride transit today, but anyone that has to travel for work, recreation or any other reason. This really is a transformational project for our region and we want to make sure as many people are involved as possible and have a say in the future of our community.”
