Press Release
The Beaufort Bonnet Company, an upscale baby and children's clothing and lifestyle brand, has opened its second corporate store at Freshfields Village, a prominent open-air retail and dining destination in the Lowcountry. The new store features a range of timeless apparel, refined accessories, and gifts, as well as the brand's signature baby bonnets.
“We are so excited to open our doors at Freshfields Village! The charming coastal aesthetic of the Kiawah Island area is the perfect backdrop for our brand, and through this store, we aim to create a welcoming retreat for families where they feel inspired to embrace special childhood moments,” said Markey Hutchinson, the company's founder and chief executive officer. “We now have the opportunity to convey that sentiment and share our beloved clothing line with families living in and visiting Kiawah Island and the greater Charleston area!”
Established in 2012, The Beaufort Bonnet Company has evolved from a handful of iconic styles to a full-fledged lifestyle brand with an expanding presence throughout the U.S. Currently sold online, as well as in multiple signature stores and approximately 400 other retail locations nationwide, The Beaufort Bonnet Company’s coveted offerings have expanded to include a range of baby and children's apparel, as well as gifts and accessories. The brand recently opened its first brick-and-mortar location at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach, FL.
“Our coastal community is so excited to welcome this growing brand as a new shopping destination for families and children,” said Trish Pruitt, senior marketing director for Northwood Retail. “As Freshfields Village is situated central to Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island and Johns Island, we expect the new store to resonate very well with our area's residents and visitors!”
The 850-square-foot boutique is one of the newest additions to Freshfields Village, creating an inviting atmosphere inside with playful architecture, custom shelving and whimsical, inspirational details including an inviting sitting area for shoppers to relax. The in-store experience will allow shoppers to enjoy firsthand the warmth and hospitality of The Beaufort Bonnet Company lifestyle brand.
The company’s hallmark bonnet is based on a generations-old heirloom pattern from the nearby coastal town of Beaufort, South Carolina. A combination of timeless design and practical function, the company's bonnets and little boys’ bucket hats were an instant hit, with mentions in Forbes, Wall Street Journal, InStyle, OK Magazine and People. In 2017, The Beaufort Bonnet Company joined the Oxford Industries family of brands, which includes Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer and Southern Tide.
