There’s been no secret that the NFL’s goals to expand its international presence, and that its main tactic is to send teams abroad to play regular season. The International Series used to be a novelty, but now it is an essential part of the season, with six games played abroad in the 2025 season alone.
Not all NFL teams travel frequently. For example, the Dallas Cowboys – still the most recognized franchise globally – have only played once on foreign soil, and that was all the way back in 2014. The Cowboys did record a victory, though, beating the Jaguars in London, so perhaps they want to hold onto that unbeaten record for a while longer.
Yet, some teams do like to travel, knowing that it helps grow the exposure and unleashes marketing and financial opportunities from an international fanbase. Below, we list those teams that play abroad the most.
Jacksonville Jaguars – 14 times. Record 7-7-0
No surprise here, as the Jags have basically designated London as their second home, playing every season in the UK capital since 2013. There were widespread rumors that owner Shahid Khan would one day move the team to London, though those rumors have been dismissed more recently. The Jags were hammered by the Rams in the 2025 season in a game pitted as a matchup between two contenders in the Super Bowl LX odds, so they don’t always enjoy comforts in their home away from home. They will be back in London next fall.
Miami Dolphins – 7 times. Record 2-5-0
The Dolphins also played abroad in 2025, this time having the honor of being part of the first NFL game held in Spain, picking up a win over the Commanders. Unfortunately, that winning feeling has been quite rare for the Dolphins’ international fans, as Miami had suffered an 11-year losing streak before victory in Madrid. The team’s hierarchy has been quite amenable to playing abroad, knowing its help’s the Dolphins standing as one of the more popular teams internationally. Their brand recognition trails only the Cowboys according to some polling.

Minnesota Vikings – 6 times. Record 5-1-0
The Vikings actually played twice abroad in the 2025 season, with one game in Ireland (a loss to the Steelers in Ireland’s first-ever NFL game) and a win over the Browns a week later in London. That Steelers’ defeat was their first-ever disappointment on foreign soil, with their 0.833 win rate being the best among teams that have played more than just a couple of games. The Vikings’ profile isn’t as high internationally as teams like the Cowboys, Dolphins, Steelers and Patriots, but it is rising in some regions in Europe.
Los Angeles Rams – 5 times. Record 3-2-0
The Rams have played abroad both as a Los Angeles and Oakland-based franchise, playing in the UK and Mexico. The interesting thing, however, is that the Rams’ hierarchy seems to be targeting the Australian market, with the team tagged to play in Melbourne for the inaugural NFL game Down Under next fall. We have yet to learn who the opponent will be, but it’s an interesting market for an NFL team to focus on.
New England Patriots – 5 times. Record 3-2-0
Back in the Brady-Belichick era, the Patriots were the biggest draw for international fans. That allure still holds to a degree, especially now that Mike Vrabel and Drake Maye seem to have turned the team’s fortunes around. The Pats’ last trip abroad was in 2024, losing to the Jags in London, but they have tasted decent success. They are the most diverse travelers on this list, appearing in the UK, Mexico and Germany.
Oakland Raiders – 5 times. Record 2-3-0
Yes, the team is now based in Las Vegas, but the Raiders have not traveled since 2019, so it’s pedantic to talk about the Oakland Raiders. That last trip was a defeat to the Bears in London, but the Raiders can also lay claim to being involved in the first-ever NFL game in Mexico, beating the Texans in a thrilling contest back in 2016. Surely, the Las Vegas franchise will be considering a trip abroad to grow its global profile?
