Notice anything missing this month? As announced last month, Duke's has ended support for its "Hot Tomato Summer" event, which previously offered "all the mayo and tomato you can handle." This year, one restaurant won't stand for the event's absence.
Tideland Brewing and its new chef, Todd Shaia, are brewing up something special. Chef Shaia has curated a selection of offerings that's sure to satisfy loyal fans of Duke's former summer event. Tideland Tomato Summer will run from Wednesday, July 22, through Sunday, Aug. 2, featuring the chef's choice of mayonnaise — naturally, Duke's — and local tomatoes from Johns Island.
Among the offerings are roasted Sungold tomato gazpacho and an heirloom tomato salad. A special tomato lemonade will be available as a nonalcoholic beverage, along with the house-made Michelada, made with the brewery's Mexican-style lager.
