SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Darling Oyster Bar today announced the opening of its highly anticipated sister location in Savannah, Georgia. Located at 27 Montgomery Street in Savannah’s Historic District, the restaurant occupies a restored 130-year-old building and features distinct dining rooms, a bar, two raw bars, and an events space upstairs.
“Opening in Savannah has been an exciting journey that felt like a perfect fit from the start,” said co-owner Robert “Bobby” Young. “We’ve developed something truly special in Charleston, and we can’t wait to bring those flavors and experiences to the Savannah community.”
The Savannah location debuts with daily dinner service beginning at 4 p.m., featuring signature dishes like Seared Diver Scallops, Shrimp & Grits, and Creole Shrimp — longtime favorites at The Darling’s flagship restaurant in Charleston. The restaurant’s raw bar will offer a rotating selection of shucked-to-order oysters, chilled seafood plateaus, and other fresh coastal fare.
In the weeks following the opening, The Darling will introduce daily lunch service and Sunday brunch.
“We are fortunate to have an extraordinary staff that has undeniably made us who we are today,” Young added. “Our talented culinary and beverage teams in Charleston, and now in Savannah, will continue delivering on our commitment to exceptional food, authentic hospitality, and the spirit of the Lowcountry.”
Preserving the integrity of the building — formerly a cigar factory, boarding house, and antique store — was a top priority for The Darling and its architectural partner, Smith Hanes Studio. The design marries The Darling’s signature aesthetic with elements celebrating Savannah’s rich history, resulting in a stylish 8,000-square-foot revitalization.
The main dining room’s two-story ceiling mimics the hull of a ship, while copper-hued drapery complements the original exposed brick and plaster walls.
Current hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 4 to 11 p.m. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made via RESY.com. Lunch and brunch hours will be announced in the coming weeks.
