Ted’s Butcherblock, located at 334 East Bay Street in the Ansonborough neighborhood of downtown Charleston, is celebrating two decades in business this year, and the neighborhood butcher shop and café is planning several special events to mark the occasion, beginning in May.
A “Beer Dinner Reunion” will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 7 p.m., where the shop will be joining forces with Ted’s Butcherblock alumni Scott Shor, of Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company, and Edward Westbrook, of Westbrook Brewing Company, for a five-course dinner from Ted’s Butcherblock Chef Nick McBride. Shor and Westbrook will be pairing each course with rare selections from their respective breweries.
The event is a throwback to almost two decades ago, when Shor and Dombrowski worked together to help introduce newly available “craft beer” to the Charleston market via special events, including monthly Craft Beer Dinners.
“We had a loyal following for our Craft Beer Dinners, which began shortly after 'high gravity' beers became legal in 2007,” Ted Dombrowski, owner of Ted's Butcherblock, said. “Scott, who was part of our team back then, had extensive experience and knowledge of beers and brewing and was passionate about helping introduce the Charleston market to a whole new world of craft brews. And as one of the first craft breweries in Charleston, Westbrook was often featured at these events. We’re looking forward to joining forces again at our Beer Dinner Reunion on May 7th, and to tasting the rare selections they’ve pulled from their offerings to pair with our Chef’s menu.”
Tickets to the Beer Dinner Reunion are $125 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Tickets may be purchased by calling 843-577-0094. Space is limited and the event is expected to sell out.
