In an effort to fight homelessness in the Charleston area, Smash City Burgers is hosting a unique event on March 30th in partnership with Hoops Against Homelessness and in support of One80Place. This one-day event brings together a range of well-known local chefs and burger crafters to serve up their specialty, all in support of a great cause.
In total, nine chefs will be serving their take on the classic smashburger with fries during their allotted time slot. The twist? Diners will buy a ticket for a time slot but won’t know who their chef is until the day of.
“For the past three years, I’ve partnered with Wade Altum and Hoops Against Homelessness to raise money for this incredibly important issue, and this year we challenged ourselves to go even bigger,” said Jeremy Reynolds, owner of Smash City Burgers. “There are so many creative chefs here in Charleston, and I am thrilled they are coming by to participate in such a fun, worthy event.”
In addition to what the chefs create, there will be a tap takeover and a silent auction with a wide range of items from local businesses.
“I am so excited for this event, and Mr. Jeremy has been such an amazing supporter,” said Wade Altum, a sixth grader at Daniel Island School and founder of Hoops Against Homelessness. “He has such a big heart, and it is great to be able to do this event to raise money for One80Place.”
In addition to Reynolds, other participating chefs include Aaron Siegel (Home Team BBQ); Vito Drake (Magnolia’s); Cam Wetzler (BlackOut Burger); Cam McVey (Park and Grove); Molly Gordon (Wando High School); Graham Calabria (Calabria’s Fine Foods); Rob Fowler (Storm Team 2 Weather); and Christine and Ray England (Lowcountry Eat Out and Husk).
Tickets can be purchased for $25 per person, with every dollar raised going to support One80Place’s efforts around homelessness in Charleston.
