Home Team BBQ has launched a new initiative that combines its love for community with a meaningful cause that is deeply personal to the Home Team family.
In late summer 2024, just before her senior year of high school, Clayson Smith was diagnosed with blood cancer. Despite facing her diagnosis with strength and courage, Clayson died due to complications from chemotherapy. She is remembered for her grace, resilience and light.
Clayson’s family has been part of the Home Team family and customers since 2009. Her father is Bachman Smith, IV, her mother is Kathryn Smith, and her siblings are Celia and Bachman, V.
Clayson’s younger sister, Celia, now a senior, is honoring her sister’s legacy by continuing the fight. Along with friends, she launched Faith in the Fight, a Blood Cancer United Student Visionaries of the Year campaign that aims to raise $150,000 for blood cancer research.
To support the effort, Home Team BBQ is launching Queso for Clayson across all of its locations in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and Aspen. From Feb. 2 through Feb. 28, a portion of queso sales will be donated directly to blood cancer research through the campaign.
