Charleston bookstore bar Philosophers & Fools will host an “Intro to Orange Wine” class with certified sommelier Sarah O’Kelley on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Philosophers & Fools is located at 50 Bogard St..
The class will explore the history of orange wine, which dates back to ancient times in the country of Georgia; distinct styles, ranging from sparkling and still wines to those made with extended skin contact; and wine-producing regions including Georgia, Italy, Slovenia and Oregon.
Tickets are $75 and include four wines, each served with a cheese pairing.
Attendees will receive a detailed handout, have ample time to ask questions and be able to order their favorite wines for pickup.
Seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Ticket information will be announced on O’Kelley’s Substack newsletter and the listed Instagram accounts on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 13.
