Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has more in store for Charleston this fall, with a new flavor, returning favorites and a fundraiser benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
OPAQUE returned to scoop shops Sept. 22 for a limited time. Originally created in collaboration with artist CJ Hendry, the flavor combines black cocoa, espresso fudge and balsamic cherry. For its return, Jeni’s is pairing the flavor with black waffle cones and a special poster takeover in shops.
On Oct. 1, Jeni’s will bring back Sweet Potato Marshmallow Brulee, featuring sweet potato ice cream, nutmeg and cinnamon, marshmallow sweet cream and cracked sugar candy.
Also arriving Oct. 1 is the new Appalachian Acorn Pie. The flavor uses foraged Ohio oak acorns to create a nutty ice cream inspired by the flavors of fall in Appalachia.
Before then, Jeni’s will celebrate “Dolly Day” on Friday, Sept. 25, with a fundraiser supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
From 2 to 5 p.m., 25% of in-store sales at Jeni’s scoop shops will be donated to the Imagination Library, which provides free books to children.
Locally, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams can be found at 501-A King Street in downtown Charleston and 1242 Belk Dr., #101 in Mt Pleasant.
