Krystal Klear Productions will host its Black History Soul Meet & Eat on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. at Movement School Bridge View, 4275 Bridge View Drive in North Charleston.
Attendees can enjoy Lowcountry cuisine, networking, expressive art, vendors, Black history trivia, prizes and a Black history basket giveaway featuring items centered on Black history and products from local Black-owned businesses.
The family-friendly event celebrates Black History Month by showcasing African American artists, businesses and culture through food, trivia and educational programming. Featured artists and educators represent different generations and artistic backgrounds. This year marks 100 years of celebrating Black history, with the 2026 theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” Organizers encourage attendees to wear casual African attire, particularly if they plan to participate in the community fashion show, which has been added to the event this year.
D’Jaris Whipper-Lewis, a soprano soloist, pianist and flutist, has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Gospel Chorus and in concerts for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and MOJA Arts Festival. She has appeared in the Town and Gown Theatre production of Porgy and Bess in Birmingham, recorded “Summertime” for the 100th anniversary documentary on George Gershwin for German television, and headlined in Charleston Stage’s production of Ain’t Misbehavin’. Her performances are featured on South Carolina Educational Radio. A regular attendee in previous years, Whipper-Lewis will serve as this year’s featured musical artist.
Antonio Rivers, also known as Shakespeare the Artist, has been a visual artist for more than 20 years and specializes in acrylic painting. He describes himself as a modern-day poet on canvas and wood, using art as a healing and therapeutic platform. During the event, he will create a live visual art piece centered on Black history.
Pleshette Grant, founder of Entrepreneur Centers for Youth’s Learn Earn, Earn Learn (L.E.E.L.) initiative, will provide financial literacy education. Bernard King, who manages the L.E.E.L. Youth Community Garden, will present a lesson on gardening. Wona Womalan West African Drum & Dance Ensemble, a featured artist in previous years, will deliver an interactive drum and dance performance with audience participation.
A portion of event proceeds will benefit Movement School Bridge View, a local nonprofit public charter school. Movement Schools partners with families to equip students with tools to close generational gaps through self-efficacy, access to world-class instruction and financial education.
“Hosting and giving back to this school through the Black History Soul Meet & Eat and Krystal Klear Kares, the giveback branch of my company, allows me to intertwine my passion for children, education and the arts in a creative way,” said Krystal Yeadon, founder and CEO of Krystal Klear Productions.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6–17, and free for children 5 and younger. Children’s admission includes a Black history activity book, while supplies last. The books feature coloring pages, educational activities and biographies of historical African American figures. Tickets are available on Eventbrite under Black History Soul Meet & Eat or at KrystalKlearProductions.com under Upcoming Projects.
