Katie’s Krops is excited to announce the launch of two new youth-based Katie’s Krops Gardens in the Lowcountry in 2026, made possible through the generous support of Big Green. Applications are now open for youth and youth-led organizations ready to grow food with purpose and share their harvest with neighbors facing food insecurity.
This opportunity is open to youth ages eight and up and youth-led organizations located in Dorchester, Berkeley, or Charleston County. Selected gardens will be rooted in one simple but powerful mission: growing food to share with neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
“Katie’s Krops has never believed in ‘one and done,’” shared founder Katie Stagliano. “We build relationships. We grow together. We serve together. Some of our gardens have been growing alongside us for more than a decade, and that long-term commitment is something we are incredibly proud of.”
Katie’s Krops will provide everything needed for new gardens to get growing, including:
- Ten raised garden beds
- Learning Garden dimensions: 54” W x 19” H x 30” D
- Beds may be arranged in a wavy line, or four beds can be configured to create a circle.
- Irrigation supplies and soil
- Plants in the spring and seeds to start the garden
- Ongoing guidance and support from the Katie’s Krops family
Important Details
- Garden supplies (excluding plants) will be distributed in late January
- Gardens must be started for the Spring 2026 growing season, no later than April 15
- Gardens must provide meaningful opportunities for youth to grow and serve
- Reporting through the private Katie’s Krops grower website is required, including photos and harvest totals
- Gardens must be maintained throughout the summer, which is especially important for school-based applicants
- An interview and/or site visit may be conducted for finalists
Katie’s Krops is seeking long-term partnerships, and strong communication is essential for success. This opportunity is ideal for youth who are eager to grow with intention, purpose, and heart—while making a lasting difference in their community.
