More than a decade ago, Marc Cotone helped open a breakfast restaurant inside a Belle Hall storefront. Later this month, he'll unlock those same doors again, this time as the owner of the newest Eggs Up Grill in Mount Pleasant.
For Cotone, the opening marks the culmination of a journey that began in the very same building, where he helped launch Another Broken Egg Café as an employee and discovered a passion for bringing people together over breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Today, after opening successful Eggs Up Grill restaurants in Summerville, Ladson and Charleston, Cotone is returning to the place where his career first took shape.
After moving his family to Mount Pleasant several years ago, he hoped he would one day have the opportunity to open an Eggs Up Grill in the community they now call home.
"This town has truly become home for us," Cotone said. "Our daughter goes to school here, we worship nearby at Seacoast Church, we've built lasting friendships here, and I couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to bring Eggs Up Grill to our neighbors."
When the Belle Hall restaurant space became available last year, Cotone said the opportunity felt meant to be.
"To have the chance to return to the place where my entrepreneurial journey began — and to do it with a brand I love so deeply — felt like everything had come full circle."
The new Eggs Up Grill will serve the brand's signature breakfast, brunch and lunch menu daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can enjoy classic breakfast favorites, burgers, sandwiches, salads, specialty coffee drinks and a full catering menu in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
A Commitment to Community
For Cotone, opening restaurants has never been just about serving great food.
Through his franchise group, he and his team have built their business around the core value of community-centered collaboration — partnering with local schools, nonprofits, churches, youth organizations, first responders and civic organizations throughout the Charleston region. Their restaurants regularly host fundraisers, sponsor local initiatives and support organizations making a meaningful difference across the Lowcountry.
That commitment naturally extends to Mount Pleasant, where Cotone is an active member of Seacoast Church, just a short walk from the new restaurant.
"I've always believed restaurants should be more than places to eat — they should be places where people feel welcome and where businesses invest in the communities they serve," Cotone said. "Our goal is to become part of the fabric of Mount Pleasant by supporting local schools, churches, nonprofits, families and local businesses for years to come — whether that's inside our restaurant or through the catering we provide throughout the community."
The new Eggs Up Grill is located at 608A Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant and is expected to open in August.
