Circa 1886, the award-winning restaurant located in the original carriage house of the historic Wentworth Mansion, has announced its first signature wine dinner of 2026. On Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m., guests are invited to “An Evening with David Tate,” featuring a rare tasting experience guided by one of the industry’s most respected vintners.
The evening marks a unique collaboration between Executive Chef Marc Collins and special guest David Tate, the celebrated winemaker for Barnett Vineyards and the proprietor and winemaker of Tate Wines.
Throughout the five-course dinner, guests will have intimate access to Tate as he shares the stories behind his highly sought-after, small-production selections. Highlighting the rarity of the evening, several of the featured wines are produced in micro-quantities — some as limited as three to five barrels per vintage.
“Bringing David Tate to our dining room is a momentous occasion for any wine enthusiast,” said Anne Hampton, sommelier at Circa 1886. “His ability to craft such powerful yet balanced expressions from mountain fruit, specifically Mt. Veeder and Howell Mountain, is truly remarkable. To be able to share these incredibly limited bottlings — some with only a handful of barrels in existence — alongside our curated menu makes this an unmissable evening for collectors and curious palates alike.”
The evening’s curated menu includes:
- First Course: Barnett Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley
- Second Course: Tate Wines, Chardonnay, Spring Street, Napa Valley
- Third Course: Barnett Vineyards, Pinot Noir, Tina Marie Vineyard, Green Valley of Russian River Valley
- Fourth Course: Tate Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mt. Veeder
- Fifth Course: Tate Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Jack’s Vineyard, Howell Mountain
Seating for this prestigious event is strictly limited to 30 guests to ensure an intimate and educational atmosphere.
