Last June, three Charleston natives embarked on a spirited adventure into the world of Italian Prosecco. With the launch of Don Luchi, co-founders Justin Wages, David Kinloch, and Andre Grundy not only made history as South Carolina’s first Black-owned Prosecco brand, they did so with remarkable breakout success. On Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Gibbes Museum of Art, the trio will commemorate their first year in business with THE RUBY: The Official Anniversary Celebration of Don Luchi.
Named after the rare crimson gem that graces the Don Luchi logo and adorns the co-founders, THE RUBY promises an elegant black-tie evening of unparalleled splendor, all under the night sky at the Gibbes Museum of Art courtyard. The ruby gemstone, traditionally associated with passion, prosperity, and protection, mirrors the entrepreneurial spirit and remarkable achievements that have defined Don Luchi's inaugural year.
Since launching in June 2024, Don Luchi has firmly secured its place as a signature lifestyle and beverage brand in the Southeast, achieving major milestones such as:
- Launch of two sparkling wines: Don Luchi Prosecco DOCG and Prosecco Rosé DOC
- Expansion into 100+ retail locations across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee
- Features in Black Enterprise, Charleston Magazine, Eater Carolinas, and The Post and Courier
- Selection to lead the opening and closing toasts at the 2025 Charleston Wine + Food festival
“Everything the ruby symbolizes has played a part in driving us to such great heights in our first year,” said co-founder Justin Wages. “As our official anniversary experience, THE RUBY is both a celebration and a sincere expression of gratitude to everyone who’s toasted with us, believed in us, and helped us write this first chapter of our story.”
Guests 21+ can expect:
- Open bar featuring unlimited Don Luchi Prosecco and Prosecco Rosé
- Culinary pairings served throughout the evening
- Commemorative Don Luchi anniversary glassware
- Exclusive anniversary candles—crafted just for the occasion
