A new party game created by a Charleston company is putting taste buds to the test.
Palate Party is a live, synchronized blind-tasting game that allows friends and family to sample different products, rate them independently and find out which ones they actually prefer before the brands are revealed.
The concept removes branding and other outside influences from the tasting experience. Participants choose a type of box — Savory Bites, Sweet Treats, Sip & Refresh or Surprise — sample products and use their phones to submit ratings without seeing how anyone else has voted. Once everyone has finished, the products are revealed and the group can see which options came out on top.
Palate Party offers several ways to play, including monthly subscription boxes, one-time gift boxes and a free option that allows users to create their own tasting.
With the subscription option, Palate Party selects the products, removes the branding and ships everything needed for the tasting. Subscription boxes start at $26.95 per month for two people, including shipping, with a new tasting selection arriving each month.
One-time gift boxes are also available for those who want to try the experience without a subscription. Boxes for two people are priced at $36.95, while four-person boxes cost $66.95, including shipping.
Those who would rather organize their own tasting can use Palate Party for free. Players purchase their own products, conceal the brands and use the platform to conduct the blind tasting.
