By the Way (45½ Spring St.), the neighborhood restaurant and bar from Uptown Hospitality Group (UHG) and Southern Charm stars Craig Conover and Austen Kroll, is marking its one-year anniversary with a new culinary chapter. The restaurant announced the collaboration of UHG Culinary Director Alec Gropman and Head Chef Corey Schoenig, who together unveiled a refreshed menu featuring seasonal ingredients.
Guests will find updated interpretations of classic tavern staples alongside new signature options available across dinner, lunch, and late night. Menu highlights include Steak Frites, Crab Grilled Cheese, Wagyu Meatballs, and Truffle Deviled Eggs, alongside new offerings such as Pan-Seared Scallops, Beef Carpaccio, and Warm Olives.
To celebrate the milestone, Conover, Kroll, and the By the Way team will host a black-tie anniversary celebration on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m., inspired by the timeless glamour of the Rat Pack era. The event is open to the public and will feature a limited à la carte menu and the full cocktail menu for purchase, along with a live, old-school crooner-style performance from the restaurant’s house band, the Moonlight Crooners.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to mark our first year than by introducing this exceptional culinary team and inviting our community to celebrate with us,” said Keith Benjamin, co-founder and director of operations at Uptown Hospitality Group. “Alec and Corey bring a fresh, creative perspective that aligns perfectly with By the Way’s spirit.”
By the Way is open weekdays from 4 p.m. to midnight, with extended late-night hours until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the restaurant opens at noon, leading into dinner and cocktails that carry the night. Reservations are available through Resy.
