Fonda Fina Hospitality founders Johnny and Kasie Curiel have announced plans to open their newest restaurant in Charleston, slated for summer 2026.
Located on the ground floor of The Charlee on Cannon, the restaurant will showcase Chef Johnny Curiel’s signature expression of Mexican heritage and storytelling through food.
The Curiels are known for their acclaimed Colorado concepts, including Alma Fonda Fina, Cozobi Fonda Fina, Mezcaleria Alma, and Alteño. Their work has earned widespread recognition for its celebration of regional Mexican flavors, artistry, and hospitality.
“We’ve always been inspired by Charleston’s vibrant restaurant community and strong sense of place,” said Chef Johnny Curiel. “Much of my cooking draws from Mexico’s coastal traditions, so it feels natural to connect that with Charleston’s own deep coastal identity. We’re excited to highlight the region’s beautiful local ingredients through our cultural lens. For us, choosing Charleston was a deeply personal decision. The warmth and welcome we’ve already felt from this community make our family excited to call it our home away from home.”
The new concept will mark Fonda Fina Hospitality’s first restaurant outside Colorado. Additional details, including the restaurant’s name, design, and menu, will be announced in the coming months.
