LOWVELO 2025
LOWVELO / [ low·vel·oh ] / Noun. A combination of the words Lowcountry and velo, the French word for “bike.” A cycling event that brings a dedicated group of riders, volunteers, virtual participants, sponsors and staff members together to raise funds for innovative and lifesaving cancer research at the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center: MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston.
100% of every participant-raised dollar from this grassroots event goes directly to cancer research. Riders have the option of choosing one of five routes based on their desired distance – 7 miles, 14 miles, 23 miles, 50 miles, or 80 miles. We also have a finish line stationary ride as well as the virtual LOWVELO Home Team option for those who can’t join us in person or prefer to log miles on their own.
Participation is open to all fitness levels age 8 and up for the 7- and 14-mile rides, age 14 and up for the 23- and 50-mile rides and age 16 and up for the 80-mile ride. Each rider commits to the cause by fundraising at least a minimum amount based on their chosen distance.
