As 2024 has been a crucial election year for many countries across the world democracy itself has evolved through the process and will continue to evolve until the next election year.
Our expert panelists representing a variety of countries in Africa and the United States will tackle questions such as: Has increased communication between countries in the last few decades helped or harmed democracy? How can we ensure democratization is equitable? What are the best strategies youth can implement to advocate for democracy? In the face of new global challenges how can we ensure the resilience of democratic institutions?

Villalón Professor of Political Science and African Studies at the University of Florida and Founder and Coordinator of the Sahel Research Group Godbless Otubure President of ReadyToLeadAfrica and Dr. Dennis C. Galvan Dean & Vice Provost for the Division of Global Engagement and Professor of Political Science & Global Studies at the University of Oregon. Founder & Executive Director of UO’s Global Studies Institute. The event will be moderated by Hammond Unger and Vaidehi Bhardwaj.
