Bio
Linda is a Mexican-born, American-raised artist from rural Missouri. She has made Summerville her home for nearly two years.
Her passion for art began as a child, sketching to pass the time during church services. This early interest developed through her teenage years, beginning in her technical studies of graphite photorealistic portraiture under the mentorship of Missouri artist, Don Stoll. During her undergraduate degree, Linda gained valuable experience as an assistant to the faculty by supplementing their lessons and teaching students the fundamentals of painting, drawing, life drawing and ceramics and completing a Gallery Assistant internship with Sager Reeves Gallery in Columbia, Missouri in which she began her career in curation.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a minor in Business, graduating magna cum laude from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. Linda has served the art community previously as Gallery Director for the Morris Gallery of Contemporary Art in Marshall, Missouri and now as Exhibition Coordinator for Public Works Art Center.
Artist Statement
“Between the Earth and Us”
“Between the Earth and Us” is a collection of work created in plein air and the studio that reflects my love for the natural world and my personal observations of the quiet, subtle balance between humanity and nature. These paintings capture moments where public parks, historical sites, and community spaces reveal a harmony between the built and natural worlds. Through these works, I invite viewers to pause and consider our role in shaping and experiencing the landscapes around us and how human presence can harmonize with the earth’s natural tendencies.
