On Saturday, April 25, two painters will bring their work together for an evening of art and community at The Exchange Club on Isle of Palms. The exhibition, Two Artists, Two Paths, One Coast, will feature the work of Chris Frick and Nadine O. Vogel. The event is free and open to the public from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with support for youth education in coastal preservation made possible through a private foundation donation arranged by the artists.
Charleston’s art community is shaped by artists whose lives intersect here in different ways. For Frick and Vogel, the coast is more than scenery — it influences how they create and how place informs abstraction. Though each artist approaches her canvas differently, their work reflects how one coastline can be interpreted through distinct perspectives.
About Chris Frick
Chris Frick moved to the South Carolina coast from Germany, a transition that continues to shape her work. Working primarily in acrylic, she balances openness and structure without forcing resolution. The coastal landscape informs her sense of orientation and distance, which is reflected in the development of space in her paintings. Her work often explores themes of identity and belonging across cultures and environments. Her paintings are currently on view at Simpatico Gallery in Charleston.
About Nadine O. Vogel
Nadine O. Vogel is an abstract artist working between South Carolina and Florida. Her paintings feature layered surfaces and a strong material presence. A longtime entrepreneur and business leader, she brings a sense of clarity and direction to her visual language. Working in acrylic and mixed media, she creates compositions defined by depth, variation and structure. Her work is currently on view at Hagan Gallery.
