The North Charleston POPS! will close out its season with a high-energy, genre-blending performance, The North Charleston POPS! Goes Country, on Saturday, April 25 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
This one-of-a-kind concert fuses the rich sound of a full orchestra with the heart and soul of country music. Audiences can expect fresh, symphonic takes on iconic hits from legends like Dolly Parton, John Denver, alongside selections from today’s top country artists. With bold arrangements, powerful vocals, and a touch of honky-tonk spirit, the evening promises a dynamic and memorable musical experience.
The concert features Charleston native Lauren Hall, an award-winning singer-songwriter known for her distinct blend of Lowcountry roots, organic edge, and traditional country influence. Hall has spent years performing across the Carolinas, sharing stages with nationally recognized artists including Travis Tritt, Tracy Lawrence, Gary Allan, and Scotty McCreery. A six-time “Best Female Vocalist” winner by Charleston City Paper, she has also earned honors such as “Country/Americana Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year.” Her music has gained regional radio success, and her Nashville-recorded EP showcases collaborations with top industry songwriters and producers.
Joining her is Mel Washington, a Charleston-based artist whose sound blends gospel roots with Americana, folk storytelling, and soulful grit. A former member of the touring rock band All Get Out, Washington brings an emotionally rich and authentic performance style shaped by themes of faith, struggle, and lived experience.
Together with the full North Charleston POPS! orchestra, Hall and Washington will bring a powerful, honky-tonk-inspired energy to the stage—bridging classical precision with the storytelling tradition of country music.
