On November 23rd at South Carolina Society Hall in downtown Charleston, a group of local Black artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs will come together for a special night dubbed "THE NEW VIBE: The Retelling."
Spearheaded by Lowcountry artist, Cameron Lewis, aka Cal Art, the event is intended to be inspirational, purposeful, and thoroughly entertaining. Some of the names you will recognize, others are bound to become more well known soon. The event will feature signature music from DJ Scrib; bites from Will Roach, Executive Chef at the Woodruff; and lbeverages from the Ep!phany N Co and Don Lucci Prosecco. In addition to showcasing Lewis’ paintings, the art of Demetrius Bing, creator of this year’s MOJA Festival design, will also be on display. Plus, video and photography for the event will be handled by the Top Tier Media Group.
In keeping with the elegant venue, attire for this unique gathering is formal, semi-formal.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit R3 Inc, which continues to provide uplifting education and mentoring services to Eastside youth.
While the event highlights some of the enormous Black talent in the Lowcountry, for Lewis, the goal is speak to our entire community.
“ Art is something that transcends race, nationality, and that all can appreciate," Lewis said. "Art is something that has the power to truly touch people's hearts in ways that are only unique to them, that's why with my work I give all that I am in hopes that I can inspire the next person to do the same in all that they do."
Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
