As Spring ushers in new beginnings, an inspiring art initiative has blossomed in the Lowcountry. The fresh stART art project - a community driven work of art - honors the courage it takes to begin again, especially for women navigating life's challenges.
Created by 31 women, ranging in age from 22-80, who live in 11 different states and come from all walks of life, this large art composition showcases deeply personal stories of resilience, loss and renewal through vibrant, expressive artwork.
In a time when many women are facing uncertainty, burnout or major transitions, the fresh stART artwork offers a powerful reminder: renewal is possible! Through colorful, storytelling images, this collaboration illustrates personal journeys of resilience and reinvention; uplifting women who need hope more than ever.
Creativity has the power to build community, bridge divides and tell stories that words cannot. The fresh stART artwork celebrates the courage to start over and acknowledges the hurdles it takes in getting there. Made up of 63 mini compositions, this artwork will spark conversations about healing, beginning again and second chances.
Spring is a season of renewal and the fresh stART artwork reflects that energy. My name is Deane Bowers, I am a local Charleston artist and the creator of this art initiative. Women are constantly reinventing themselves, whether after loss, career shifts or personal growth. Each image in this artwork holds pieces of universal experiences of heart break and new beginnings, resulting in a visual celebration of strength and beauty.
The fresh stART art project is seeking opportunities to bring this artwork to more spaces and places where it can empower others and foster community. The goal is to make these stories of resilience accessible to all.
Currently, the fresh stART artwork is on loan at a Lowcountry Women's Shelter, providing a daily dose of creative inspiration and support to women at crossroads. We are excited that this artwork can be used in a therapeutic way and are eager to line up more temporary exhibits.
If you have any recommendations of businesses, organizations or individuals who might like to have the artwork on display for a period of time, please let us know. Together, we can turn a fresh start into a powerful moment.
