The Drop In this week announced the second installment of Happier Hours, an event series aimed at "fostering resilience, joy, and community," in conjunction with the 4th annual Park Circle Pride festival. The event, set to take place the morning of June 8th, will occur at the historic Navy Yard in North Charleston. This event is one part fitness and one part performance, promising an infusion of music and movement, offering guests the flexibility to participate in one or both components.
Happier Hours will begin at 8:30 am and will kick off with a "WERQOUT" led by acclaimed NYC-based movement facilitator, Ariel Padilla. Participants will engage in a high-energy HIIT workout with a focus on fun, community, and group choreography.
Following the workout, attendees will have a moment to refresh and reset before gathering again for a One-Day Choir experience. Led by guest facilitator Kenter Davies, participants will have the opportunity to sing in harmony, celebrating the connective power of music and building community in the process. This event is open to all, with no auditions, commitments, or experience necessary—just the joy of creating something bigger than ourselves with a room full of beautiful humans.
In celebration of Pride Month, the featured piece of this event will be “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. As a champion of LGBTQ+ rights, Lady Gaga's anthem of self-love and radical acceptance aligns perfectly with the spirit of Park Circle Pride. The choir arrangement will be facilitated by Kenter Davies, who leads One-Day Choirs in New York City with Gaia Music Collective. Proceeds from this event will benefit AFFA and We Are Family. Tickets will go on sale on May 7 at 10 am.
