The Charleston Place will transform into a winter wonderland again this year, inspiring guests and locals to "Be the Light" within their communities. From the beloved holiday train and live performances from the Dance Conservatory of Charleston to timeless Nutcracker Teas with ballerinas, nightly "snowfalls" in Market Street Circle, a new visual light show on the King Street exterior, and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus — plus exciting NEW elements like a life-size gingerbread house and a special "Santa Hotline" for calling the North Pole — The Charleston Place hopes to inspire unity, warmth, and kindness this holiday season.
On Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 pm, The Charleston Place will officially kick off the festivities with its ceremonial tree lighting in Market Street Circle, complete with the first snowfall, debut of the new life-size gingerbread house, live music by The Equinox Holiday Brass Krewe and complimentary cookies and cocoa for everyone.
Additional visuals include:
- More than 115 decorated holiday trees throughout the hotel and courtyards, all adorned in spectacular décor in a metallic color palette
- Debut of the new life-sized gingerbread house created by Pastry Chef Fabrice Benezit (measuring 10-feet deep x 12-feet wide with a nine-foot roof; featuring 3,500 handmade gingerbread tiles and 200 pounds of icing)
- Magical first "snowfall" in Market Street Circle alongside the 40-foot illuminated tree
- Holiday light show on King Street prior to snowfall
- The traditional holiday train, traversing more than 300 feet of track in the Grand Lobby
- A special student from Meeting Street Academy, along with their family, will pull the lever to light the tree; this student was selected based on their outstanding academic achievements and family’s participation in the school community
- Cocoa and sweet treats for everyone, and adult holiday cocktails available for purchase
