On July 18, 2026, The Charleston Museum, in partnership with local chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), will host a special program celebrating the vital contributions of women during the American Revolution. “Remember the Ladies!” will highlight the lives and legacies of influential South Carolina women, including Eliza Lucas Pinckney, Rebecca Motte and Susannah Smith Elliott, whose actions helped shape American history.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. with a keynote presentation by Margaret Pickett, author of Rebecca Brewton Motte: American Patriot and Successful Rice Planter.
Following the keynote, Pickett will participate in a panel discussion alongside Christina Butler of the American College of the Building Arts, and Virginia Theerman, Curator of Historic Textiles at The Charleston Museum. The discussion will explore the impact of women during the Revolutionary era and conclude with an audience Q&A session.
Volunteer genealogists from the South Carolina DAR will also be available to assist attendees with DAR membership inquiries, lineage research, and resources for tracing family history.
