The Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour is coming to North Charleston. The comedians are making stops in states along the East Coast and will be performing at Wit’s End Comedy Lounge on Saturday, September 21st at 8 p.m.
The tour highlights Black comedians and their stories. The touring lineup includes Jordan Centry (Charlotte, NC), Brandi Augustus (Knoxville, TN), and founder Wills Maxwell, Jr. (Wilmington, NC). The performers live in different cities but combine forces to take this show on the road. Each stop features different special guest performers. The show in Charleston features local favorite, Rossi Brown.
Wills Maxwell founded the Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour in 2022. This year marks the third tour the group has embarked on together. The all-Black lineup has visited over a dozen cities and garnered local and national press coverage along the way.
The comedians were assembled by Maxwell, who has a deep appreciation for all of them.
“I love performing on these shows but honestly, I really love watching them,” said Maxwell. “Every show has a different lineup and it’s always amazing to see how these different talents make for an especially hilarious night. I love the people I perform with. I’m their colleague but I’m also their fan.” Maxwell is also excited to bring the show to Charleston. “This is our first time coming to Charleston and I can’t wait. I once spent a Summer working here and I quickly learned that this city has a lively and supportive comedy scene. Bringing the show here just feels right.”
