The ARK of South Carolina will host its fourth annual car show on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Nexton (201 Sigma Drive, Summerville). The free, family-friendly event will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring a showcase of classic and custom vehicles, food trucks, raffles, door prizes and more.
Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss their chance to show off their rides and compete for top honors. Registration is $25 in advance (by March 28) or $30 on the day of the event, with on-site sign-ups beginning at 8:30 a.m. Awards, including Top 35, Best in Show and The ARK Award, will be presented at 12:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The ARK of South Carolina, a nonprofit that provides support and resources to families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Since 1996, The ARK has offered essential services such as respite care, support groups, educational workshops, caregiver consultations and community outreach throughout Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties.
“The car show is more than just an event for auto enthusiasts—it’s a way for the community to come together in support of families impacted by Dementia,” said Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK of SC. “Caregivers often face immense physical and emotional challenges, and our programs are here to provide relief, education and support every step of the way.”
Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia (ADRD) is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, cognitive function and behavior, eventually impairing a person’s ability to perform daily tasks. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 112,500 individuals in South Carolina are living with the disease, with approximately 219,000 family members and friends providing unpaid care. Many caregivers also manage their chronic health conditions while supporting loved ones. In The ARK’s five-county service area alone, more than 15,000 individuals are affected by ADRD.
