The Taylor Festival Choir will open its 2026-27 season with a concert titled “Sea to Shining Sea: An American Tribute” at 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at Circular Congregational Church.
The Taylor Festival Choir, whose latest album is on this season’s Grammy ballot in three categories, will serve as the musical centerpiece of the concert. TFC will be joined by fiddler Karin McQuade and guitarist Andrae Raffield for toe-tapping renditions of lively American old-time tunes.
The concert will also feature the newly formed TFC Barbershop Quartet performing timeless favorites such as “Goodbye, My Coney Island Baby” and “Shine on Me.”
The Taylor Festival Choir will perform patriotic selections including “God Bless America,” “America the Beautiful,” “Pastures of Plenty” and the national anthem. The program will also feature American choral masterworks, including “Agnus Dei,” Samuel Barber’s choral setting of his famed “Adagio for Strings”; the opening movement of Randall Thompson’s “Testament of Freedom”; “A Jubilant Song” by Norman Dello Joio; “Cloudburst” by Eric Whitacre; and works by the late Moses Hogan.
The Taylor Festival Choir is an internationally honored, Charleston-based, 24-voice chamber choir founded and led by Dr. Robert Taylor. TFC has performed at numerous prestigious national choral conferences, toured nationally and internationally, and recently released its fifth commercial album on the Parma Navona recording label.
