The Summerville Orchestra announces that Executive Director Andrew Price will be stepping down after three and a half years of service in the role.
“My time with the Summerville Orchestra has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life," Price said. "I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together, from being named the number one community orchestra in the country to the strides we’ve made in accessibility, community engagement and long-term vision planning. I firmly believe the work we have done will carry the orchestra forward and strengthen the arts in our small town for years to come.”
Price’s tenure has been marked by remarkable growth and innovation, building on a longstanding relationship with the organization. Price began as principal bass eight seasons ago and served on the musicians’ board from 2019-2022, before taking the executive director position. Under his leadership, the orchestra has nearly doubled its budget, expanded its outreach to more than 29,000 people this past season and strengthened its commitment to the community by securing grants for youth programs and technological accessibility.
“Andrew’s passion and dedication have helped bring the Summerville Orchestra to new heights,” said Lee Zimmerman, board president. “His leadership has left a lasting legacy, and we are well-positioned to build on that momentum as we look to the future.”
The Summerville Orchestra will conduct a nationwide search in the coming weeks, as it continues to engage and enrich its community through the evolution of the orchestral art form.
