Studio Union’s annual Spring Open Studios welcomes the public Saturday, May 31, coinciding with the most vibrant time of year for the Arts in Charleston. The studio, nestled in North Charleston’s residential neighborhood of Union Heights/Windsor Place, is home to a collective of 20 artists working in ceramics with pottery and sculpture and mixed media with textiles, encaustic, acrylic eyewear, and oil painting.
The Studio Union collective regularly opens the space, and this installment will feature an exhibition of member artists, alongside a market of available art.
Studio artists will be present to talk about their work. The celebration of community will include light refreshments, drinks and the group’s favorite local DJ who is known for her soulful way and legendary record collection.
“It’s the sweetest time in this building when we host our Open Studios,” said Susan Gregory, multidisciplinary artist and founder of Studio Union. “There’s some magic that happens with opening our art home, sharing new work, and feeling the space come alive with the public’s energy and support. Come visit!”
The event is free and open to the public. Ride share or parking across the street in the vacant lot is suggested. The building is one story and accessible with additional assistance available by request.
