South of Broadway Theatre Co. will kick off its 2025-2026 season with the Lowcountry premier of Ken Ludwig’s “Dear Jack, Dear Louise,” a Helen Hayes Award Winner.
When two strangers meet by letter during World War II, a love story begins. U.S. Army Captain Jack Ludwig, a military doctor stationed in Oregon, begins writing to Louise Rabiner, an aspiring actress and dancer in New York City, hoping to meet her someday—if the war allows. But as the conflict continues, it threatens to end their relationship before it even starts. Two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig tells the joyous, heartwarming story of his parents’ courtship during World War II. This cliffhanger romance is sure to keep you riveted!
Starring Evan Wilson as Captain Jack Ludwig and Rainey Barrineau as Louise Rabiner. Evan has been seen in and around Charleston as Davey in Newsies, Harold Hill in The Music Man, and the title role in Aladdin, among others. Rainey hails from Greenville, South Carolina, and has appeared in Les Misérables, Noises Off and Godspell, to name a few.
Tickets are $15 for students and $22 for adults. Shows are Sept. 26 and 27 and Oct. 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m., and Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. This show is suitable for all ages.
All performances are at South of Broadway Theatre Company, 3346 Rivers Avenue, Suite 1A, North Charleston, South Carolina, in the Reynolds Station office park between Cosgrove and Reynolds avenues. Ample free parking is available right in front of the theater.
