Nashville based singer/songwriter Pierce Alexander today released a cover of "Doll Parts," originally recorded by the 90s grunge band Hole. This marks his first cover song release and his debut collaboration with producer/musician Michael Flynn (a founding member of Charleston's Slow Runner). Despite living in different states, Alexander and Flynn recorded the parts remotely, giving the song a unique and dynamic feel.
"Doll Parts," a song known for its raw emotion and themes of vulnerability and self-worth, is reimagined by Alexander. His cover offers a modern take on the original, blending elements of indie rock with Flynn’s folk/Americana production style.
“I don’t cover songs very often, but when I do, my goal is never to make it sound exactly like the original," Alexander said. "I always prefer to pick songs where I feel like I can bring something new to the table.”
This is Pierce Alexander’s first release of 2024, and according to him, there is much more on the horizon.
His cover of “Doll Parts” is out now on all streaming platforms.
