CofC Stages in the College of Charleston’s Department of Theatre and Dance concludes its 2025-2026 Pulse & Passion season with the classic 1975 musical "A Chorus Line." Conceived and originally choreographed by the Broadway legend Michael Bennett, "A Chorus Line" tells the story of 17 dancers auditioning for a Broadway chorus line.
“There are only a few musicals which are iconic enough to define their era,” remarks Todd McNerney, Professor of Theatre and the production’s director. “Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, "A Chorus Line" remains one of the most important musicals in Broadway history. It was the first Broadway show to reach 4,000, then 5,000, and finally over 6,000 performances.”
“As a play about the ‘working persons’ of Broadway, it highlights the individual truths that each of us possess,” McNerney continues. “It focuses on both the power recognizing that each of us is unique and special and also seeing that through that individualism to recognize how much the same we are.”
The production features a cast of talented College of Charleston student actors, including theatre majors Robert Bevilacqua, Drake Carney, Hayden Cohen, Emma Feeney, Peyton Grant, Emerson Goldberg, Rowan Gutovitz, Heather Hines, Emma Nottoli, Tanner Leonardo, Caleb Luhila, Paeton Patterson, Caleb Pratt, Grace Ratledge, Laura Rae Robinson, Kasey Smith, Octavious Scott, Maya Tatum, Patrick Treybal and Noah Whisonant. The cast also includes dance majors Ana Barringer, Mackenzie Hayes and Sarah Santucci, as well as non-majors Amani Affonso, Jenna Bush, Abby Frier, Gino Hemerlein, Jaidan Nolan, Allie Pereira and Harley Smith.
The production team is composed of theatre majors Mia D’Angelo (assistant director), Laila Hall (costume designer), Abby Israel (lighting designer), Tovah Levenson (scenic designer) and Dailyn Mincey (stage manager).
