North Charleston POPS! will bring the music of a legend to the stage with Rocketman: The Music of Elton on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Sponsored by Fox Music, the concert will serve as an electrifying orchestral tribute celebrating the music of Elton John.
Under the direction of Maestro Nick Palmer, music director and conductor of the North Charleston POPS!, the orchestra will guide audiences through Elton John’s greatest hits with energy and flair. Pianist and singer Michael Sobie will join the POPS! for a high-energy program featuring songs such as “Bennie and the Jets” and “Tiny Dancer,” performed with full orchestral accompaniment. The evening is designed as a sing-along celebration filled with memorable moments.
Sobie is a nationally recognized pianist, conductor and music director whose career spans Broadway, film, television and international concert stages. A Michigan native now based in Los Angeles, he began studying classical piano at age 7 and went on to perform in Broadway productions including Wicked, Les Misérables, Xanadu and Altar Boyz, as well as the first national tour of Aida, where his appreciation for Elton John’s music began.
Rocketman: The Music of Elton is billed as a family-friendly evening packed with the artist’s greatest hits, brought to life by the full power of the North Charleston POPS! Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and NorthCharlestonColiseumPAC.com.
